Deb Wins the Order of the Palmetto - South Carolina’s highest honor
Congratulations to Deb Sofield. On June 2, 2008 at The First Monday of Greenville Club she was awarded the Order of the Palmetto, the highest civilian honor awarded by the governor of South Carolina. The Order of the Palmetto was created in 1971 to recognize lifetime achievement and service to the state of South Carolina. Presenting the award were SC Representatives Bruce Bannister of Greenville and Nikki Haley of Lexington along with Rep. Eric Beddingfield, Sen. Mike Fair, Rep. Gary Smith, and candidate elect Dan Hamilton.
Deb is a founding member of the Upstate Republican Women and has served on the board of First Monday of Greenville for more than twenty years. She served two terms on Greenville City Council and in 2007 was elected as a Commission of Public Works, the first woman to win an election to the commission since its inception in 1918.
Deb Sofield was recognized for her work in training men and women for public office.
